A Herald story on little Ellie’s condition sparked a fundraising drive, with people across Fermanagh doing their bit to help.

Recently Ellie Nicholl Research Fund sheets were to be found at shops across the county as those who donated had a chance to win a signed Fermanagh jersey from the Dublin match at Croke Park and All Ireland final tickets.

To further help with sales Ellie’s brother Arran and his friends at St Michael’s College carried out a ticket blitz, together with friend, family and staff at the school raising over £850 for H-ABC Research and Horizon West Children’s Hospice.

Patsy McCaughey from Trillick was the winner of the framed jersey supplied by Conall Jones, but upon hearing of the boys’ achievements wished to present them with his prize in recognition of their hard work and passion. In all a total £11520 was raised and the winner of the All Ireland Tickets was Alex O’Donnell, a Kerryman living in Tralee.

The Nicholl family have been  overwhelmed by the support shown and the total raised and hope that the community continues to embrace their fundraising activities. A Halloween Party night has been organised for Friday October 30 in the Westville Hotel. Following proscecco on arrival, guests will enjoy an acoustic set, hot fork buffet, disco and auction.

Tickets are priced at £20 and can be purchased in advance via Ellie’s Page on Facebook or by contacting the Hospice Shop in Enniskillen.
