IT appears Transport NI  have finally bowed to public pressure and done a u-turn by  introducing stop/go boards at the Johnston’s Bridge from Wednesday.

The Herald understands that current restrictions will be relaxed and  traffic will now be able to flow up the Cornagrade Road in both directions.

Calls had been made for this system to be introduced since the road works began in June, but now with just over a week to go the stop/go boards will be introduced.

A PSNI spokesman confirmed the development:

“Work on Johnston Bridge is progressing well and it has been decided to relax the current restrictions and replace them with Traffic Control (Stop / Go boards).

“This will take place between Wed 19th Aug to Fri 28th Aug (daily from 8.00am to 5.30pm).”
