Rose hopefuls travel in style for a real night to remember

Fermanagh Rose 2015 (1)
ON SATURDAY EVENING Aoife McCann from Maguiresbridge was announced as this year’s Fermanagh Rose at the gala event in The Enniskillen Hotel.
The Queens University student follows in the footsteps of Brookeborough’s Dearbhla McManus.
Aoife will now move on the regional festival in Portlaoise at the end of May. Aoife was one of six girls on the night vying for the title of Fermanagh Rose. The other five entrants were; Maria Connolly (Newtownbutler), Elaine McGerty (Derrylin), Aoife McCaffrey (Irvinestown), Jolene McManus (Fivemiletown) and Lisa-Marie McCaughery (Roslea).
The Fermanagh Rose of Tralee secretary Shauna Gallagher was delighted at the calibre of entrants in this year’s selection and congratulated Aoife on her success. Speaking to the Herald this week Shauna explained that the judges had an  ‘extremely difficult’ time separating the girls on the night. She was pleased though, both with the final outcome and the event itself.
“The day ran really smoothly, we even managed to squeeze in a visit to Jazzeys for a cocktail.
“The night ran really well too. All of the Roses had family and friends to cheer them on, accompanied with good luck banners.
“The judges all agreed it was an extremely difficult decision. Obviously after spending the day together the girls formed friendships and we all cannot wait to support Aoife at the regionals in Portlaoise at the end of May. Aoife is an ambitious and extremely accomplished young lady, myself and the rest of the committee have no doubt that she will make Fermanagh proud.”
On selection day the Rose candidates visited Belleek Pottery during the day, enjoyed a cocktail in Jazzeys, Enniskillen and travelled in style with vintage cars provided for the day. The main event in the Enniskillen Hotel was well-attended, with guests partying into the early hours to music from local band The Engagements.
The Fermanagh Rose now  moves on to represent the county at the regional finals in Portlaoise. Aoife will be hoping to become the first Fermanagh Rose to make the Rose of Tralee finals since Aisling Reihill eight years ago.
