Lafferty head-butt charge thrown out

The head-butt charge on Ballinamallard United’s Johnny Lafferty has been thrown out by the IFA.

It means the Ferney Park player’s six-match ban has been lifted in full.

Manager Whitey Anderson reacted today saying he was delighted at the decision.

“Lafferty would have received a 6 game ban only for the fact that we were able to produce the video evidence that clearly demonstrated that the alleged head-butt did not take place,” said Anderson.

“This is twice in three years that I have attended a hearing and on both occasions our player has been cleared of an alleged head-butt. It is extremely disturbing that officials can make such decisions when they have been clearly in the wrong. If video evidence had not been available they would still have been adamant that the offence occurred. They have to be 100% sure before making such important decisions.”
