THE crisis response helpline LIFELINE has indicated that it is pushing its promotional activity across the county.
Responding to the Fermanagh Herald poll on mental health and suicide, Lifeline said it believes it is vital ‘vital that the crisis response service maintains a high profile’.
A spokesman said: “Our staff have delivered promotional packs with Lifeline information cards and posters to rural towns all over the county (including Tempo, Roslea, Newtownbutler, Ederney, Maguiresbridge, Irvinestown, Kesh and Balinamallard), as well as Enniskillen and Lisnaskea; and we have accepted at every opportunity to attend events, to outreach to people at community level.
“In the last few months we have attended a health fair for schools in Enniskillen, a youth festival in Irvinestown, a community fun and information day in Lisnaskea and delivered a presentation for the NIHE in Enniskillen.”
The spokesman admitted that ‘more can always be done’ but said ‘ongoing work should be recognised’.
“If we can ensure that organisations like these are well supported and that everyone is sign-posting to each other appropriately, then we can build on that. We want to ensure that people in crisis know exactly who we are and how to contact us, and that we deliver that message regularly.”
