AN Alzheimer’s Society fundraising group from Fermanagh is organising its own Memory Walk to raise money for people with dementia and their carers, as part of Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest annual fundraiser.
The Memory Walk will take place on October 11 (Saturday) at Castlecoole Estate, Enniskillen.
Memory Walk is a day to walk, share and celebrate someone special.
From a four-year-old to their 80-year-old granny and her dog, Memory Walk sees whole families coming together to fight dementia.
A group of local volunteers with a wide range of experience of living with dementia, both personally and professionally wanted to do something to fight the condition whilst walking with others who truly understand.
Community Fundraiser Andy Boal said: “There are 19,000 people living with dementia in Northern Ireland.
“Raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society is a vital way of supporting people living with this condition and will help find a cure once and for all. This is an easy walk whatever your ability and whatever the weather and a great opportunity to come together for a common cause. We encourage you all to put a couple of hours time aside to join us for this lovely event, the more the merrier.”
Enniskillen’s Memory Walk takes place in Castlecoole Estate on 11 October, 2014 starting at 2pm with registration from 1pm.
