A NEW nightclub is to be launched in Enniskillen – but the catch is, it’s for under 18s only.
Held at the former ‘Life’ nightclub, which is separate from the licensed premises, the fortnightly club night will cater for 13 – 17 year olds, with organisers promising state of the art lighting and sound.
It is thought to be the first ‘teen exclusive’ nightclub in the county – with underage generally run in community halls, for example at the Bawnacre in Irvinestown, or in Tempo.
The club, dubbed ‘Studio 13-17’ idea came through Ann Reid, of Willie’s Ramblers who contacted DJ Tony Martin, Irvinestown, who together have been working to get the club open in time for Friday’s launch night.
“The idea came about when it was noticed how many buses were leaving Enniskillen every time Cookstown organised a youth disco, that together with the only other options being the Bawnacre or Tempo,” explained Tony.
“The teenagers themselves they can expect a nightclub, with state of the art sound and lighting. We’ll have a resident DJ as well as young guest DJs.”
Allaying potential fears of parents, Tony added: “To put parents’ minds at rest that their teenagers are going to unlicensed premises, with registered staff, male and female security staff.”
Doors open on the first night from 9pm – with nights running fortnightly for the immediate future.
“We’re hoping that the first night will be popular. Parents will hopefully see it as a safe place and we hope than teenagers will see it as their club.”
Friday’s opening night includes a set from Vibe Radio DJ, DJ Arcade. You can interact with the club through their Facebook page ‘Studio 13-17’.
