WORK is underway on the new £1.5m library in Lisnaskea.
The new library, which will replace the existing library at Drumhaw, is expected to be completed in early 2015 and locals can expect a public meeting room, coffee room and multi-purpose shared space facility.
Passers-by can see workers involved in the building – with two formerly derelict properties at 157 Main Street, now visibly changed from before.
A library spokesman confirmed: “Work continues to progress with an estimated finish date of early 2015 and the building is gradually taking shape.”
And the developments were welcomed by Sinn Fein MLA Sean Lynch.
Mr Lynch, who lives in the town, said that the town in ‘very happy’ with the progress that has been made.
“We’re very happy with the steady progress and because we’ve had fairly favourable weather that has helped with that.
“I think it will make a big difference – it had been two derelict buildings and we’re looking forward to it opening and becoming a community hub.
“There’s many aspects to a library with new technology – it’ll become a learning hub for the community.”
The current library at Drumhaw has been busy this summer with the ‘Summer Reading Challenge’ event for 2014 – ‘Mythical Maze’.
More details on this can be found through contacting the library.
