A NEW calendar featuring attractive photographs of Lisnaskea and Upper Lough Erne beauty spots has been launched by a local shopkeeper.
John McBrien of McBrien’s Newsagent on Main Street, has just received a shipment of the calendars which he expects to sell out over the coming months.
The 45-year-old, who took over the family business 27 years ago, explained that he sells ‘a couple of hundred’ calendars every year, and, it made sense to create a local one.
“There was a local charity who came and had photos of all over Fermanagh.
“I was clicking on the website and I came across all the photos of Lisnaskea – and you could get calendars done up,” he explained.
“I thought: ‘I sell calendars, there’s lovely pictures of Lisnaskea and the Upper lake, sure why not put a calendar together’. I can sell it in the shop and it’ll promote the local attractions at the same time’. I know calendars don’t sell now – but they’ll start selling November and December time.”
The calendar includes beauty spots like Crom Castle, Carrybridge – and even local businesses like The Kissin’ Crust and The Watermill restaurant.
“I viewed all the pictures online and picked the ones I liked the best and then one of the reps came up to see me and again they were fit to do it from their base,” John said.
“People will be looking for a calendar anyway.
“I sell a load of Northern Ireland calendars anyway – so why not have local views?”
