A PHARMACY assistant based in Belcoo has been short-listed for the UK ‘Pharmacy Assistant of the Year’ award.
Fiona Gallagher is one of only four finalists selected from pharmacies across the UK, and is the only entry in this category from Northern Ireland.
The Chemist and Druggist Awards ceremony takes place on June 12, in London.
Speaking on the nomination, Joseph McAleer, pharmacist and owner of Belcoo Pharmacy, said that Fiona is very popular with customers and the community in general.
“She is a wonderful and caring person who has a welcoming smile and a genuine concern for people in times of difficulty and it is these attributes which have obviously persuaded the judges that Fiona is a worthy contender for UK Pharmacy Assistant of the Year.”
He added: “Anyone who knows Fiona will agree that she is a very special person; she regularly goes above and beyond her role as pharmacy assistant to spend time with people in their time of need.
“Fiona plays a key role within our pharmacy team and she is a joy to work with.
“Customers often comment on the great atmosphere within the shop and Fiona’s energy and enthusiasm plays a big part is this.
“I wish Fiona good luck at the awards, but for us she is already a proven winner.”
