ANGLING enthusiast, Pascal Brissaud, the head chef at The Watermill Lodge and Restaurant, could hardly believe his ears when he heard that a 30-lb pike had been landed by a Dutch guest at his fishing lodge attached to the restaurant.
It all happened on Sunday afternoon last, the Dutchman among a party of seven fellow countrymen who arrived last Wednesday and who return today, Wednesday.
They and other European nationals, as well as Russian anglers, were canvassed by Pascal personally at one of his Continental promotions.
Hence, his sheer delight when they had something to show, and talk about, back home.

The angler was not with the other six, but he had expert help at hand in the form of Marin, the full-time ghillie at the Watermill fishing lodge.
He shared the boat, fitted with a fish finder, with Marin, one of three boats the group had taken out that day.
And, to end what was a happy story, the pike, once photographed, was safely returned to the lake in accordance with DARD policy and, indeed, with Pascal’s strict barbless hooks dictat.
