FERMANAGH will have six entries out of the 27 nominees who will be competing in this month’s annual Northern Ireland Tourism Awards.
The awards recognise the outstanding performers in the tourism industry across nine categories.
The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held on Thursday 29 May in Belfast.
The ‘Fermanagh Six’ are – Belle Isle Cookery School, Belleek Pottery Visitor Centre, the Belmore Court Motel, the Enniskillen Hotel, the Lough Erne Resort, and Fermanagh Black Bacon (O’Doherty’s Butchers, Enniskillen).
The tourist board’s Chief Executive, Alan Clarke said the event would recognise the hard work and achievements of those in the industry.
“Last year, Northern Ireland hosted three major events that again generated global attention.
“Meanwhile, our tourism industry continued to move confidently on from the achievements and the large-scale investment associated with the campaigns of recent years.”
Gemma Bell, Diageo NI, co-sponsor said it was important that the people, places and organisations that make such a valuable contribution to the north’s tourism industry are recognised and rewarded.
The shortlist of 27 nominees was drawn up by a panel of judges from entries that came in from all over Northern Ireland. The include nominations that are contesting in more than one category.
