Laura herself has more than 30 years nursing experience having worked as a midwife, an occupational health nurse, district nurse as well as a palliative care nurse with Macmillan Cancer Support. She has also managed a recruitment agency for six years.

The  new specialist social care and nursing recruitment agency aims to place highly trained staff in a full range of health and social care posts.

The company is creating two permanent posts within the new recruitment agency and 17 full-time equivalent posts, including support workers, nurses and allied health professionals.

Each agency worker is assessed by an experienced nurse who will assess their education, experience, training and attitudes before placing them in a job.

“We have extremely highly qualified people on our books and will be able to provide temporary staff to a huge range of health care providers and individuals.

In addition, we will be able to assist with finding the best staff for permanent posts,” explained Positive People Agency Manager Laura Lavery.

The new social enterprise will support Positive Futures, a charity set up in 1995 to support people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autistic spectrum condition. They aim to  achieve dreams and transform lives.

“At Positive Futures, we believe everything is possible. We don’t look for reasons why something can’t be done. We find a reason why it can. This is why our services make a huge difference to the people and families we support,” explained Agnes Lunny, Chief Executive, Positive Futures.

“We challenge outdated ways of thinking. We identify gaps in service provision. We act creatively. We work in partnership. Most of our established services first started in this way. With that in mind, we have created this new social enterprise in order to provide highly qualified, trained and vetted social care and nursing staff to health care providers and individuals in Northern Ireland,” she added.
