THE communities of Fivemiletown, where he lived with his wife and young family, and Brookeborough where he was born, are still coming to terms with the death, as a result of a road traffic accident last Thursday in County Derry of Glen Patrick (Archie) Campbell (35), Tudor Park, Fivemiletown.

Mr Campbell died when the lorry he was driving, carrying a load of 200 pigs, overturned near the village of Gulladuff at around 6.30 in the morning.
Four fire crews attended at the scene together with members of the Fire Service animal rescue team.

The deceased and his wife, Denise, moved to Fivemiletown shortly after their wedding five years ago. They have two children, three-year old Katie, and one-year old Archie.

Mr Campbell is the son of Tom Campbell, the well-known bar manager of the Valley Hotel and Carol.

He has one brother, Adrian and a twin sister, Glenda.

Among those who expressed sympathy with the family was Stormont Minister, Arlene Foster.

She stated: “ The community in Brookeborough where Archie was from and Fivemiletown where he lived with his wife and young family are deeply shocked and saddened by his untimely death.

“I know Archie’s father, Tom and mother, Carol and I know that they will be devastated by his death, but the people of Brookeborough and the surrounding area will rally round and support them as best they can.”

The deceased and his family regularly attended Cavanaleck Presbyterian Church, and it was there that the funeral service took place on Sunday morning last, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The church minister, Reverend Colin Dickson, speaking beforehand, said the congregation was ‘deeply saddened and shocked’ to learn of his death.

“Glen was well-known and well liked by people in this community. He was a really good fellow and very likeable, friendly and chatty. He lived for his wife and children, and was a super dad and husband.”

Reverend Dickson described Mr Campbell as, ‘an experienced and safe driver’ who people would often contact when looking for directions to do runs outside of the north.

The deceased was a keen rugby supporter and regularly attended Clogher Valley Rugby Club matches.
