LOUGH Erne will again host this year’s World Championships for Predator Boat Fishing with Lures and, the organisers have secured a sponsor.
This week, the executive committee of the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland (NCFFI) announced the sponsor’s name, and the dates, 9th – 13th October around Enniskillen.
Well-known local coarse angler and competition organiser, Jack Tisdall, who is a member of the NCFFI International Events Committee, revealed that the main sponsor is Polish lure manufacturer, Salmo in conjunction with their Irish distributor, Dennett Outdoor.
He said: “The NCFFI are delighted to have a world famous lure brand associated with the World Championships, and look forward to working with them over the coming months.
Aaron Gamble, Salmo representative, explained that his firm is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of lures.
“The Salmo brand has been the most successful lure brand in Ireland and Northern Ireland, especially in the pike angling sector.
“We are looking forward to seeing our products used in the famous pike and trout waters of the Erne system, and we are very glad to be able to give something back to the sport and to the country where we have enjoyed so much success.”
Jack Tisdall said the NCFFI committee are expecting around 15 nations to take part in the event.
“At this early stage, six countries have already committed to taking part, including the current world champions, Ukraine.”
He said it was ‘particularly pleasing’ to see England taking part in this discipline for the first time.
