Fermanagh 0 – 10

Cavan 1 – 14

IT WASN’T TO be for Fermanagh in tonight’s (Saturday) All Ireland Round two qualifier against Cavan.

The Ernemen suffered a major setback following the sending off of forward Sean Quigley at the turn of the second half due to an incident prior to the end of the first.

He was the side’s main scorer in the first half, which Cavan led 1 -07 to 0-05.

The introduction of Daniel Kille in the second half provided somewhat of a boost with his accuracy from frees seeing the score deficit reduced, however, the early dominance of Cavan proved too much to overcome.

Cavan were reduced to fourteen men later in the second half as Martin Reilly picked up a second yellow.

Yet, a second yellow for Fermanagh’s Shane McCabe not long after, handed the advantage back to Cavan.

And the Breffni men saw out the victory in the final minutes with a string of scores from Flanagan, Dunne and Givney.

For full reaction see Wednesday’s Fermanagh Herald (July 17).
