The drink driving case appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court
AN Enniskillen woman who was caught drink driving after having a glass of wine at a friend’s house has been barred from driving for 12 months.
Dympna Maguire, 34, of Rossole Park, appeared before Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday to face the charge.
The court was told that police officers were carrying out checks on the Sligo Road on May 16 at around 1am when they stopped the defendant driving a Renault.
Police officers noted that Maguire appeared nervous and they could smell alcohol off her and her eyes were glazed. After questioning the accused she replied: “I’m sorry but I’m nervous.”
Maguire then admitted to having a glass of wine at a friend’s house and was subsequently asked to carry out a breath test which she failed.
The accused was then taken to Enniskillen custody suite where a breath test gave an alcohol reading of 67mg, 24mg over the legal limit.
The defendant, who is a single mother of two young children, was released from custody.
Her defence solicitor told the court that Maguire was at a friend’s house and had foolishly decided to drive home after a having a glass of wine.
District Judge Liam McNally noted that she had not offended prior to the incident but disqualified her from driving for 12 months and handed down fines totalling £275.
