THE Central Band of The Royal Air Force will perform a concert in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF “The Soldiers Charity”), in the Unionist Hall, Enniskillen, on Friday evening June 28.
Stuart Brooker, deputy county grandmaster of the Orange Lodge was delighted to welcome the band to the county and was grateful to the support of the Royal Air Force Association
“We are very privileged, in that the band is only performing one concert in Northern Ireland, and that’s in Fermanagh.” During their short tour they are also taking part in two events in Bangor and Belfast.
Each year the Internationally renowned Central Band of the Royal Air Force performs in excess of 580 engagements, travelling more than 45,000 miles. In 2010 the Central Band and the RAF Squadronaires signed a record deal with Universal Music (DECCA) and to date, has sold more than 170,000 albums.
This success resulted in being nominated for the Classic FM album of the year at the ‘Classic Brit’ awards ceremony in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
It is the hope of the organisers that money raised will provide support to injured troops and their families in times of conflict around the world.
“Many are in need of financial and welfare support during their time of rehabilitation after injury, and, in the case of a serviceman or woman being killed in action, to offer support to the bereaved family at a time of great need,” Stuart added.
Tickets can be purchased from the Unionist Hall, SD Kells shops in Enniskillen, Lisnaskea, and Irvinestown, by ringing Stuart on 07968 738491, or Nicola on 07872 395981 or e-mail requests to stuartbrooker@btinternet.com.
