Fermanagh take top spot after victory

Fermanagh’s Tomas Corrigan in full flow

Fermanagh 0-15

Sligo 0-9

Fermanagh defeated Sligo yesterday afternoon to move above Monaghan and top of Division 3 of the Football League.

Declan McCusker and Tomas Corrigan each scored two points  in the opening 35 minutes with Paul Ward also on the scoresheet at Brewster Park, but the home side still went into the break behind with Sligo forward Adrian Marren helping the visitors to an 0-6 to 0-5 half-time lead.

After initially being a tight encounter the Ernemen were finally able to pull away thanks to seven points without reply early in the second half. Three from Corrigan and further points from Daryl Keenan, Ward, Marty O’Brien and Tommy McElroy ensured another victory for Fermanagh in what is turning out to be a promising season for Peter Canavan and his players.
