Ballinamallard manager Whitey Anderson was delighted with the result and the performance of his side at Ferney Park on  Saturday.

“It was a great win and a big win for us,” he said. “We played extremely well.

“Before the game I would have settled for a point just to keep us ahead of Warrenpoint, but to get the three points was a big boost for our players and the club.”

Anderson felt it was a real team performance from start to finish.

“It was a great bonus for us to get the points and have such a good performance. I’m delighted for the players because it has been really tough for them.

“That performance was as good as it has been this season against a good Coleraine side,” said Anderson.

That gives Ballinamallard a two week break before the take on struggling bottom place Ards in their next game.

“I know now there will be a real buzz at training and at the club for the next two weeks,” he said.

The Ballinamallard manager felt his side’s two goals were of real quality.

“The first one was really well worked and the second was a neat back heel and a  great strike from Lecky,” he said.

He has told his players that with four games left they must take something from each of them and if they played like this until the end of the season they would surely do that.

“We worked hard on a number of things in training and they came off today. It has really given us a life and we are keen to fight all the way to stay in this top flight. The football we played today was excellent with flashes of our quality game last season.”

“Having days like this gives you a real lift and that’s just exactly what we have to do for the rest of the season. We want to drive on and now have the confidence that we can do it.”

Now Anderson’s players will have a rest to prepare for the final four games of the season.

Sitting on 34 points they are just one behind Coleraine. However, Warrenpoint are chasing in second last spot with 30 points with Ards off the pace on 22.

First up it is Ards on Friday week with Ballymena United visiting Ferney Park the following Saturday.
