Council deliver trophy to family after man’s death

THE Council, which presented an award to the family of Hugh Maguire days after his death, two years after it was commissioned, said it “does not comment on individual employee matters”.
Mr Maguire, a well-known and respected member of the Enniskillen community, worked as a Community Development Worker for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council until 2022.
A few days after Mr Maguire’s passing in March, his family was presented with an award to recognise his long-serving employment with the Council, where he helped many young people.
The ‘Herald understands that the accolade was commissioned around July 2022 and it took over two years to be presented to Mr Maguire’s family member, arriving days after his death.
Responding to a query from the newspaper, a spokesperson for the Council expressed their condolences to the Maguire family, but they didn’t comment on the delay in delivery of the trophy.
“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council extends sympathies to the entire family circle of the late Mr Hugh Maguire who was a valued employee,” a statement to the ‘Herald read.
“The Council does not comment on individual employee matters.”
