Enniskillen’s hopes of playing in the Energia All-Ireland League Women’s Division disappeared after a fiercely competitive playoff at Shay Murtagh Park in Mullingar on Sunday afternoon.
Skins’ coach, Rodney Balfour said; “We’re very, very disappointed. Ennis-Kilrush came out fighting from the start and they caught us slightly unawares and it took us a good 20-25 minutes to start getting a foothold in the game.
“There were a few extremely dubious decisions made by the ref which stopped our momentum quite often and it was a bit frustrating throughout but it is what it is, taking nothing away from Kilrush, they definitely played really, really hard.
“They’re a beatable side but we showed our inexperience at times but it was definitely a great learning curve for us and there’s no doubt in our mind that we’re more than capable to play up in that league but it just wasn’t our day.”
