Members of Fermanagh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competed over the last few weeks and brought home a number of medals.
Earlier in the month, the club had several competitors competing at the Grappling Industries in Dublin and enjoyed a few wins and gained valuable learning.
After five matches, Adam Rutledge came away with a bronze medal in his bracket in the gi, taking some points wins, a submission and one narrow points’ loss.
Colin O’Murray had a busy day with around 15 matches in gi, nogi and both absolute categories against some very strong opponents, earning a deserved silver in the gi.
Richard Neely was competing in his first competition at blue belt and he had to move up a weight group to get some matches, but still came away with gold in no-gi and bronze in the gi.
Conor Gawley also competed for Fermanagh in the juvenile section and unfortunately, after a few tough matches and some very good technique, he didn’t manage to get on the podium this time.
More recently, Ewan Suttle completed at the Empire Grappling All Ireland tournament in Newry entering both gi and no-gi.
And after some very convincing wins by submission and one by points, he came home with two very well-deserved gold medals.
The Fermanagh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club said;
“There’s been excellent work from all of our competitors, whether they won or lost, and we’re very pleased with how well they’ve represented Fermanagh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on the competition mats.”
