THE Oisín McGrath Foundation is excited to announce the annual ‘Run for Oisín’ event, one of the county’s most popular fun runs, set to take place on Sunday, August 11th at 1 pm in Belcoo. Whether you prefer to walk, run, or jog, the event offers both 5k and 10k distances.
This chip-timed, professionally measured event ensures accuracy and enjoyment for all participants, who will also receive medals upon completion. Refreshments and a prize-giving ceremony will be held at the Community Centre following the race.
Registration will be open on the day at Lakeland Community Care, in Belcoo, from 10am or you can pre-register online via www.njuko.net/omg24
The Oisín McGrath Foundation was formed in memory of 13-year-old Oisín McGrath from Belcoo, who lost his life tragically in February 2015. The Foundation is inspired by Oisín’s life and formed both to keep his spirit alive and to inspire others through his memory. Oisín’s mum Sharon McGrath commented “The family and indeed all involved in the Foundation are forever grateful for the support we have received and could never have anticipated the response in previous years. It is a huge community event with over 1000 participants and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again whether you are a recreational walker or seasoned athlete.
“The Foundation brings opportunity to others alongside celebrating Oisín’s life and his love and commitment to sport. We are pleased to be able to make grant awards and it is our hope that we can support even more young people and groups, assisting them in their sports development in memory of Oisín.”
