The new President of the Rotary Club of Enniskillen has chosen Action for Children as his charity of choice during his term in office.
Kerr Fulton-Peebles began his role on 1 July and has already established strong links with the charity, which is heavily involved in supporting people in the local area.
Kerr recently visited Action for Children’s Early Intervention Family Support service and Floating Support Service in Enniskillen, meeting Lisa McGarvey, Alison Kettyle and Paul Kellagher.
They discussed a range of challenges including childhood poverty and youth homelessness and how the charity works to support families locally through a range of interventions.
With 4000 children in care across Northern Ireland the need for foster carers has never been greater.
Action for Children has foster families in Fermanagh but is desperate for more people to come forward to make space in their life and home for children in the greatest need.
Children’s Services Manager for Action for Children, Paul Kellagher, said: “We are delighted that Mr Fulton-Peebles has decided to support Action for Children during his time as President.
“We are seeing ever increasing need in our services, yet funding remains the same or has reduced in real terms. We are seeing the impacts of child poverty almost every day in our services. The support of the Rotary Club of Enniskillen will allow us to make a real difference to local people,” he said.
Mr Fulton-Peebles said: “Having heard a talk at our Rotary Club about Action for Children I was struck by the synergy its work had with my experiences in boarding education for severely disadvantaged children.”
