Footgolf elite roll into Enniskillen for Ulster Open

FOOTGOLF enthusiasts are in for a treat as the prestigious FGAI Ulster Open FIFG 250 descends upon the picturesque Enniskillen Golf Club this Sunday, July 14.
The lively competition, hosted by the FootGolf Association of Ireland, will see the finest footgolfers from across Ireland and beyond test their skills on a brand-new course over 36 challenging holes.
Top contenders include Fermanagh’s own Aidy Burns, Waterford’s James Barry, and Scotland’s Callum Haig, with the battle for the title promising to be fierce.
Burns will be seeking a triumphant day on home turf, while Barry aims to continue his impressive season with a fourth victory. Haig, fresh off a top 20 finish at the Masters in France, also stands as a formidable competitor.
Tournament director Tiarnan Magee shared his excitement for the event, which is a first of its kind at Enniskillen.
“As it stands, we have 42 registered for Sunday, with five coming from Scotland and a few from England. We hope to exceed 50 by the time registration closes on Thursday,” he said.
“This competition forms a significant part of our Irish National Tour, as well as being part of the European and World Tour. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about footgolf to come down on Saturday evening and Sunday to see what all the fuss is about.”
Enniskillen Golf Club official Damien Love also expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event.
“It came before the council, and there was no hesitation in ratifying it. We’re delighted to be staging it. It’s a prestigious competition, and competitors will get the opportunity to try the course out for the first time on Saturday,” Love stated.
“We have the facilities for changing, there’s food afterwards, and the bar will be open, so all being well, it’ll be a fantastic day.”
Highlighting the club’s readiness and potential for future events, Love added, “Enniskillen is perfectly placed and we’re also looking at continuing footgolf after this, with Tiarnan’s help.
