Fermanagh band ‘Tully’ ready for local gig

Fermanagh band ‘Tully’ has said they’re ‘delighted’ after they were confirmed as one of the main performers at a major music festival set to take place in Omagh next month.

The family group will be teaming up with Enniskillen’s Sean Magee at the much-anticipated Summer Sessions Festival which takes place in the Copper Tap on Saturday, August 24.

“We are delighted to be playing alongside the fantastic Sean Magee on August 24,” posted ‘Tully’ on Facebook, “sure it’s a good excuse for a few drinks and a boogie.”

‘Tully’ – which is made up of band members, Maria Connolly, Sinead Connolly, Karen Connolly, Danielle Cadden and base player Paddy McCabe – recently confirmed the release of their single ‘Listen to the Radio’.

“So our secret is finally out and yes some of you were right,” ‘Tully’ posted in a statement.

“A huge thank you to Nathan (Carter) for asking us to be a part of this. It was pretty surreal listening to RTE Radio 1 and watching The Six O’Clock Show this evening [Tuesday].”

‘Listen to the Radio’ is an iconic song. The track was written by American Fred Knipe, before being recorded and released by Don Williams back in April 1982.

The collaboration between the Knocks band and Nathan Carter comes shortly after the Liverpudlian confirmed that he was working on producing new music.

“’Tully’ are all great musicians and their harmonies are fantastic. Now that their families are at an independent stage they’re going back performing with full force,” Carter told the ‘Sunday World’.

“They’re recording a new album at the moment and are absolutely buzzing and thrilled to be back having a second shot at life in the world of entertainment.”

Carter has also recently been spotted working on a new project with Donegal Country music legend, Daniel O’Donnell, where he joked they were working on a ‘Baywatch audition’.
