Fermanagh band to reunite at Ulster Fleadh

TEN years after they were named All- Ireland Senior Ceili Band winner, the much-loved and hugely popular Knockmore Ceili Band has reunited for a special appearance at the upcoming Ulster Fleadh.
Excitement is building in Dromore and the surrounding areas ahead of the Ulster Fleadh which runs for eight days, from July 21 to July 28, and will see hundreds of music fans flock to the village.
A star-studded lineup has been confirmed to entertain the crowds at the Ulster Fleadh, with the Knockmore Ceili Band reuniting to mark the special music festival in style.
Led by Maggie Maguire from Boho, the Fermanagh-based band romped to success at the All-Ireland Fleadh in August 2014, when they were named ‘All- Ireland Senior Ceili Band’ winners.
When the Knockmore Ceili Band clinched the national success 10 years ago, it was only the third time that a group from Fermanagh had won a title at the All-Ireland Fleadh.
“Getting together for practice was hard, but everybody wanted to put in the work this year, and that made it a bit easier. Everybody had the determination to win it,” said Ms Maguire at that time.
There’s going to be plenty of local flavour at the Ulster Fleadh, with Dromore’s ‘The Whistlin’ Donkeys’ confirmed as one of the main performers during the week.
Before they take centre stage in Dromore, ‘The Whistlin’ Donkeys’ are set to team up with Enniskillen multi-instrumentalist Sean Magee at the Ballygawley Music Festival on July 19.
‘The Porter Bellys’, fresh off the back of their sold-out performance at Kinawley Community Centre, has also been confirmed as one of the acts for the upcoming Ulster Fleadh.
