Doctors at the South West Acute Hospital are set to step into the spotlight as part of a new three part BBC NI television series.
Filmed at SWAH television cameras follow junior doctors on their foundation year working in the Western Trust.
The programme which also follows doctors around the wards in Altnagelvin Hospital will give the viewer a behind the scenes insight to pressures facing those delivering front-line medical care in the Western Trust.
It will follow the junior doctors around the wards giving an honest insight to highs and lows faced throughout their foundation year, the interactions they have with patients, as well as the feeling of becoming an important member of a Western Trust team.
Many familiar faces throughout both acute hospitals will pop up throughout the series with commentary provided by Dr Neil Corrigan. There is a cameo appearance from the Altnagelvin Choir, as they perform to a packed audience in the Guildhall, as well as showing viewers the beautiful Fermanagh Lakes.
‘First Time Doctors’ aired on BBC One NI this Wednesday 30 October at 10.35pm. It is understood the second episode in the series, to air next Wednesday night, will focus in on junior doctors at SWAH.
