The project is set to bring gas to thousands of homes in Enniskillen, Derrylin and other parts of the county. 

It is believed that residents and commercial customers will be able to connect to suppliers within the coming months. 

Most recently, Go Power has released leaflets advertising connection opportunities after the completion of the Gas to the West project. 

It details ‘Contact Go Power about securing your supply and providing you with the best value energy.’ 

It is believed that the company aims to service commercial customers, not homes, but other suppliers will be lined up for the residential market in the coming months.

Throughout 2019, the ongoing work could be seen at roadside locations across Fermanagh where up to 40 temporary jobs were created by the Gas to the West project. 

Most recently, there was four teams of eight to ten workers, who are all from Fermanagh, carrying out the extensive roadworks to accommodate the ambitious project. 

Up to 200 kilometres of pipes have been laid as part of the major infrastructure for the new mains gas network. 

A spokesman for SGN Natural Gas confirmed that works to bring natural gas to Fermanagh are ongoing: “We are delighted to report that work which will bring natural gas infrastructure to the Fermanagh area is progressing well.” 

The spokesman added; “Once available, natural gas will offer amazing versatility as well as giving homes the opportunity to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. 

“We are very grateful to the residents and businesses in the area who have been very accommodating of our work to date, we are confident the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by the long-term benefits of our project,” he said.
