Catching up on old times at St Ronan’s 50th anniversary

Over 400 people flocked to Lisnaskea to join in a packed evening of anniversary celebrations at St. Ronan’s Primary School on Thursday last.
In the run-up to the event staff and pupils had put a great deal of work into preparations for the school’s 50th anniversary.
“It was a great team effort involving all the school staff, the TTFA, Board of Governors and the school kitchen staff,” explained vice-principal Eamon Shannon.
“The evening kicked off with Mass at Holy Cross Church. The chief celebrant was Bishop Larry Duffy. After Mass we went back over to the primary school where there was a photo exhibition.
“The addresses were followed by refreshments served in the school dining hall.
“It was a great evening with an impressive attendance of past pupils, past members of staff and those who have sat on the Board of Governors over the years. In total we had a turn- out of over 400 people, it was a packed house. It was a superb evening weather wise, we really couldn’t have asked for any better.”
Mr Shannon added: “One of the best things about this event was it gave all past pupils an opportunity to come back together and catch up again.
“There were people there who hadn’t seen each other in years and they met up again and could exchange old stories. People had travelled quite a distance to be there, with some coming from Dublin and beyond.”
Another school term has wrapped up with pupils finished for summer. Returning to school in September and looking forward to the future of education at St Ronan’s, Mr Shannon said, “We hope to build on the great work which has taken place over the last fifty years and continue to provide the best education possible for the children at St Ronan’s PS.”
