THE BUSY Rathmore Clinic doctors’ surgery in Belleek is looking for a new GP.
The practice, which caters for around 4,000 patients, is currently made up of three GPs, a practice nurse, five reception staff and a practice manager.
Applications were welcomed from both newly qualified or established GPs.
Commenting, Councillor John Coyle said that the GP practice in Belleek is a “vital service in the village”.
Cllr Coyle added, “There is a well respected and hard working team in the practice. Hopefully another general practitioner will come and join the team and assist the people in the rural area with their health needs.”
Across the county there has been growing concern about the provision of rural health services and
Cllr Coyle said ensuring the future of such services was important and noted it was important to attract medical staff to the county. “We must promote Fermanagh as a whole as a great place to live and work and have a very good lifestyle.”
Referring to Belleek he said, “We have first class primary schools and a secondary school, it is an ideal area for young families. If a new GP does come they will be very much welcomed. We have a welcoming community and they will be part of it from the first day they step into it.”
