LOCALS flocked to the streets to welcome home award winning Irish dancer Colum Higgins. Dozens of locals threw an impromptu homecoming celebration for the 14 year old dancer who was returning home after competing in a world championship competition held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Colum returns to Belcoo as the runner up in World Championship USA, bringing back the second place medal.
In the run up to the championship Colum had committed to a full training regime. He trained five days a week and often travelled to Derry for rehearsals. He is a member of the McConomy Bradley Doherty Academy based in Derry and Enniskillen.
Despite his packed training schedule Colum still makes time to play his favourite sport, gaelic football, with his club Belcoo O’Raghallaighs.
Runner up in the World Championship USA is the latest in a line of achievements for the young dancer. His achievements to date include; current Ulster Champion, 2nd World Championship Glasgow 2018, Irish National Champion 2018, All Scottish Champion 2018 and Great British Champion 2018.
