Transformation of old offices to 21st century workplace

THE transformation of the former tax office building in Enniskillen is set to create opportunities for business development and job creation in the town.
The building has stood vacant since the Revenue Services and associated jobs were moved out of Enniskillen. Major refurbishment works are due to be completed in a matter of weeks. The building Abbey House is now owned by Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd.
Commenting on the development John O’Kane, Fermanagh Enterprise Chairman said, “This is a significant investment for the Organisation and follows the successful recent regeneration of another property vacated by the public sector.
“The abandoned NI Water site in the Killyhevlin Industrial Estate was purchased by Fermanagh Enterprise in 2013 and the Company has managed to recycle and refurbish this site to create what is today a thriving hub of economic activity and the headquarters of 30 small businesses which have created 50 valuable local jobs for the area.
“It is the vision of the Board that we can similarly develop Abbey House, transforming what is now a vacant building to support business development and create much needed jobs. This may take some time, but it is an aspiration which we believe is well worth the effort and work which will be involved.” The property extends to 6,000 sq ft of lettable office space and is located close to the town centre. The Board of Fermanagh Enterprise promise an exciting new modern office provision with flexibility and connectivity as two main themes. John Treacy, manager at Fermanagh Enterprise is confident of the latest move to extend the services of the Enterprise Agency.
“A key aspect of developing our local economy is supporting and encouraging local people to start their own businesses. The regeneration of Abbey House is an exciting opportunity to add to that by exploring the potential to attract new information age businesses to Enniskillen.
“This will have a wider spin off for the overall economy and add to the attraction of the town as a leading business location,” he said.
