Disgust at dumping of dead lambs at side of road

THE dumping of dead lambs along a roadside near Brookeborough has been branded as “disgusting”.
Council wardens recovered several dead lambs dumped along the Carrickpolin Road outside Brookeborough. A lamb was visibly left in a hedgerow in photos shared by Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership.
Commenting a spokesman for the PCSP said, “The Community Safety Wardens were out in the Brookeborough Area this weekend when they discovered a number of dead lambs dumped along the Carrickpolin Road.
This area appears to be a dumping ground for dead animals. This activity has serious public health and disease implications.
“The wardens will continue to monitor the area and any evidence gathered will be passed to the appropriate authorities to deal with.”
Reacting local councillor Sheamus Greene said he had been made aware of the situation.
“When I looked into where it was happening you could see bones of animals. Obviously this dumping has been going on for months or years,” he explained.
“Hopefully this will be resolved, because, it is an absolutely disgusting thing to do. It wasn’t far from peoples houses that this dumping was going on. It’s a health hazard and you just have to wonder about the mentality of anyone who would be at this.
“This type of thing is an ongoing problem out in rural areas and it gives the farming community a bad name where 99.9 percent of farmers are extremely good and do everything right.
But, you have an odd rogue one like this involved in this disgusting behaviour and it lets down all the good farmers who do the thing right. 99.9 percent of farmers would be disgusted at anyone doing this.”
