Police crackdown after £20,000 drugs parcel in post

POLICE in Enniskillen are cracking down on suspected drug dealers after intercepting around £20,000 worth of cannabis in the post.
Over the last couple of weeks, police have been out and about carrying out public order duties in an attempt to prevent the supply of drugs and bringing those involved before the courts.
Officers arrested a 31 year old male following another interception of a postal package containing what is believed to approximately 600 Diazepam tablets.
A spokesman for Fermanagh PSNI said, “It is undoubtedly more lives saved. Prescription drugs are prescribed for a reason. Please don’t be foolish enough to buy or take these from someone other than a doctor or pharmacist. You have no idea what you are actually taking.”
This is the second postal detection in recent weeks.
Last month, on February 26th, officers arrested a man and woman in Enniskillen on suspicion of a number of drug offences after approximately £20,000 worth of suspected herbal cannabis was intercepted from the postal system. A follow-up search has also been carried out and a further quantity of suspected cannabis was seized.
In another incident, last Monday evening, police revealed a number of separate drug detections of suspected Class A and Class B drugs had been carried out by officers in Enniskillen.
Warning about the dangers of drugs in the community, a spokesman for the PSNI Fermanagh said, “We know that the issue of drugs is a concern for the local community – be assured we are working hard to tackle the issue every day. We continue to urge communities to share with us any information they may have about drugs and the dealers that put harm in our community.”
