Treat in store for SWAH staff working Christmas

THE kind hearted staff at Lough Erne Cakes are on a mission to bring Christmas to those doctors nurses and other health workers who are on duty over Christmas.
Each Christmas Day, cake maker Baiba Lauze along with her hardworking team create hundreds of cupcakes and hand deliver them to the wards of the South West Acute Hospital.
Last year, hundreds of nominations were received via their Facebook page from members of the public wanting to show gratitude to certain wards and specific staff they had personally received care from. The bakery has decided to do it all again this Christmas, and nominations are being sought for those doctors and nurses who go the extra mile.
Baiba explained, “We wanted to show support to the hard working hospital staff that work over the Christmas period, many of whom don’t get to see their kids open their presents or won’t share a Christmas dinner with their loved ones.
We were overwhelmed with the response from the public sharing their incredible stories about how certain staff helped them. The response was so great we couldn’t pick a certain couple of wards; we decided to include everyone, which resulted in making 300 cupcakes on Christmas morning!
Due to feedback received from customers, this year we want to involve people more and allow people to personally purchase a cupcake for a chosen person/ward that we will again hand deliver on Christmas morning.”
For just £1 donation you can buy a cupcake for your chosen ward or staff member.
To donate you can either visit Lough Erne Cakes Facebook page, and donate via a link leaving a personal message or you can call into their shop located on Old Henry Street in Enniskillen to donate in person.
