Teenager (19) threatened to burn down GP surgery

Lakeside Medical Practice, Enniskillen

A Bellanaleck man threatened to burn down a GP surgery because he was unhappy with his prescribed medication, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard this week.
Sean Drumm of Arney Road, Carneyhill in Bellanaleck appeared before Monday’s court sitting for sentencing via videolink from Hydebank Prison where he is in custody on other matters.
Drumm (19) was charged with making threats to damage property and possession a controlled drug on April 25th last.
The court heard that at 1.15pm on the date in question, two medical practitioners from the Devenish Practice in Enniskillen attended Drumm’s home on a routine visit as he had issues with the medication he had been prescribed for his mental health problems.
During the course of the visit, Drumm became abusive and volatile towards them. He stepped out of the room momentarily to take a phonecall and when he returned he continued the abuse towards the medical; staff.
He then made a threat to damage their surgery, telling them: “I’ll burn that place to the ground and then you’ll know that I have mental health problems.”
Drumm then left the scene and was later located in Enniskillen where he was found in possession of Zanax and Pregabalin tablets which he didn’t have a prescription and had obtained illegally.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan was told that Drumm suffered with mental health issues and was on various forms of medication but felt that he wasn’t on the correct medication at the time.
The judge sentenced Drumm to three months in custody.
