A LETTERBREEN MAN has had to pay £250 for a bottle of Fat Frog alcopop after taking the drink from a local off licence without paying for it.
Sean Drumm (19) of Derryaghna, Letterbreen pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court via video link from Hydebank prison last Wednesday.
On September 27th last year he entered the off licence at the Lough Inn in Enniskillen, however the manager recognised him on CCTV. Drumm had been barred from the premises previously, and when the manager told him to leave he took the Fat Frog drink and left without paying for it.
Drumm was reported to police and interviewed, and the drink was recovered.
Defence barrister Stephen Fitzpatrick said explained that Drumm had gone into the off licence with the intention of buying drink, but when he was told he was barred he became angry. He said the defendant had opened a fridge, and the Fat Frog had fallen into his lap. In his anger, Drumm walked out with it.
Mr Fitzpatrick said there had been no level of sophistication or premeditation involved in the theft, and added Drumm, who is on remand in prison for alleged public order offences, had entered an early guilty plea to the offence.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan said it was “going to be an expensive bottle of Fat Frog”
