MAD Liverpool fan Shane Mulligan will be singing all the way to Kiev this week, to cheer on his Anfield Reds in the Champions League final on Saturday night.
Shane who has been a supporter for as long as he can remember will be singing and chanting favourites like, ‘You’ll never walk alone’, ‘We love you Liverpool’ ‘Around the fields of Anfield Road’ as he makes his way to Kiev for Saturday evening’s Champions League Final against Real Madrid.
He begins his over 2,000 mile trip on Thursday when he flies to Liverpool first to meet his mates before taking a coach and boat across Europe to Ukraine.
“We’re going to stop in Berlin for a drink or two before moving on to Krakow where we’ll stop for a while.
“Then it’s on to Ukraine and the ground in Kiev,” he explained.
Shane, a lifelong supporter, admits he’s really in love with the Anfield club.
“I’ve been with them from a young age, through my dad,” he said.
He and his 50 plus Liverpool friends head off on Thursday on the coach, but travelling is nothing new to this crew of Reds.
Shane has been to Rome and Manchester City in the quarters and in all this will be his seventh Champions League game. In fact it’s his 16th game of the season.
“I can’t wait to get to this one. I’ve been going to watch them frequently since 2009. Since 2011 it has been 10+ times a season really, but this is my first final to get to.
“I think we’re definitely going to do it this year. I think we’re one of the best attacking sides in Europe and to me Real Madrid are absolutely terrible at the back. So I think we can expose them early on when you think of what we’ve done to a few teams.
“We have the fire power,” Shane predicted.
