Belcoo quarry is bought over by Tracey Concrete

TRACEY Concrete has confirmed that it has bought Belcoo Quarry.
The long established Enniskillen company, based at Old Rossorry Road, Enniskillen, purchased the quarry at Gardrum Road, Belcoo, from Acheson and Glover some time ago.
The company headed by Patsy Tracey is one of the largest precast concrete manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. They specialise in precast drainage, tunnelling and building products.
This week Mr Tracey explained that there were long-term plans for the quarry.
“We’re at present building a new factory in Enniskillen and when we get that finished we will very much look at what we are going to do in Belcoo.
“We see it as a future pre-cast yard for ourselves. Going forward that’s what our plans would be for it. At present we’re building a new factory in Enniskillen and by the time we finish that in September or October we’ll then have a look at maybe putting another factory there,” he said.
“We’re very happy about it and see it having great potential going forward,” he added. “We will develop that site whenever the time is right. It will be a great asset for us and has fantastic potential.”
“We have a great business here with over 150 people employed. We’re in the process of building a new factory on a new site and it’s a big extension. We hope to have it going in September.
The Belcoo property comprises two limestone quarries divided by the Gardrum Road and in total extends to approx.177.4 acres (71.8 hectares).
Belcoo (Creenago) is the larger of the quarries with a total permitted reserves of 7,066,180 tonnes of dolomitic limestone and blue carboniferous limestone.
