CHRISTMAS has certainly come early for Margaret Mimnagh as she was handed the keys to a brand new set of wheels this week.
The Drumquin woman woke up to a wonderful surprise on Saturday morning when her phone rang and she learned that she had scooped the top prize of a new Hyundai i10 in The Graan car prize draw.
On Monday afternoon, Margaret was given the keys from Fr Charles Cross, Superior of the Graan and Marty Armitage of Monaghan’s Garage, Lisnaskea.
Margaret told the Herald: “I have been entering the draw for a lifetime and have never won anything before. I couldn’t believe when I got the call to say I’d won – it was a big shock.”
Mr Armitage added: “We are delighted to support the Graan in this year’s prize draw and we are very happy for Margaret and wish her many years of happy motoring.”
For Fr Charles, Friday night’s dinner dance at the Killyhevlin was his first big event since taking over at The Graan in recent months.
“Thankfully there was a great crowd on the night and everyone enjoyed themselves. My sincere thanks to all who helped in any way with the draw and dance. All your efforts are deeply appreciated and your generosity is your greatest virtue. God reward you all!”
He added: “When I rang Margaret on Saturday to tell her she was the lucky winner, the first thing she said was ‘O Mother of God’. She is great character and a long time supporter of the prize draw so we’re delighted that she has been a very worthy winner,” he added.
