LAWYER Frederick Ladapo of Devenish Manor, Silverhill Enniskillen appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court charged with using a motor vehicle in dangerous condition.
On January 3, around 2pm Police received a report of a two vehicle road traffic accident on the Loughshore Road Enniskillen. On Wednesday, the court heard how the two cars going in opposite directions were coming around a bend, and Ladapo’s vehicle crossed the white line going across the bend. On the day in question, the road surface was described as greasy and the vehicle Ladapo was driving had been in a dangerous condition.
Defence counsel Stephen Mooney told the court that the defendant was a qualified lawyer in Nigeria, and was a man of ‘impeccable character.’ He also said that the vehicle had been purchased by Ladapo’s wife in October 2016, and before the accident the vehicle had brake pads fitted by a mechanic.
District Judge Nigel Broderick told the court that cases like this ‘highlight the importance of maintaining the condition of vehicles’ and fined Ladapo £300.
