LOCAL model Aimee Boyle is turning heads ahead of Belfast Fashion Week’s 24th season. The 20-year-old from Newtownbutler has been modelling since she was 17, after being spotted on Instagram by a photographer and the rest, she says, ‘is history’.
She signed for CMPR Models in September 2014, and this Belfast Fashion Week will be her 7th season.
Speaking to the Herald, Aimee explained her love for the industry and how being on the catwalk makes her feel ‘empowered and untouchable.’
“My favourite thing about modelling would have to be the sub-culture within it and getting to meet and work with new people all over the UK. From having built my own personal profile, I often get invited along to many different events along with some of my model mates which is great fun when off duty.
“Being on the catwalk itself makes me feel empowered, untouchable and totally on-trend as I am almost guaranteed to be dressed in something amazing.”
Her attention is now firmly on West Coast Cooler Fashionweek, which is firmly established as a key date in any fashionista’s diary. This year, the event is running from October 26th to the 30th in St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast. Aimee, who is a former student of St Comhghall’s, admits the fashion week is “without a doubt my favourite job to get”.
“I get to work alongside more models than normal and I get to wear a lot more clothes from various brands and having my own personal dresser is also pretty cool too. We have some great laughs back stage during hair and makeup and a real good buzz each night,” said Aimee.
The model and fashionista has big hopes for the future, and has recently been working in the TV industry, but is keeping tight-lipped about her plans.
“I hope to further my name within the industry, take some time out to travel over to my second agency, Major Models in Milan, and make something more of that. I would like to have a nice balance between international work and work over here.”
“Having recently filmed with ITV over in London, I think I may take an interest into branching into that industry. I have been asked to film a couple of other shows on major channels such as ITV2, E4 but I can’t say much about that.’
