AN ENNISKILLEN man pointed his finger in a police officer’s face, before kicking a car causing £100 of damage, and then tried to kick a
police car.
Martin Maguire of Cleenish Park in the town pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, criminal damage and attempted criminal damage at
Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday.
At around 2.20am police Maguire approached police in the Diamond, Enniskillen in an aggressive manner. He was verbally threatening,
swearing and was pointing his finger in an officer’s face. Maguire was warned he’d be arrested if he didn’t stop, and he was
removed from the crowd in the area and taken to the other side of the street.
There he continued to be disorderly and was asked to calm down. Maguire then calmed down, however he did not go home as advised to by police and continued to hang around. At approximately 3am officers saw him walking with another man towards Church Street. They saw him kick a car door, which the owner later said cost £130 to fix, and then he attempted to kick the mirror of a police car.
When he was arrested Maguire said he’d drank too much alcohol, and then made no comment to the rest of the police’s questions.
District Judge Ken Nixon said he was adjourning the case for two weeks for a magistrate’s report to be carried out on Maguire, indicating he
is considering community service in the case.
