FERMANAGH man Rory O’Donnell will be making sure he gets a good night’s sleep this evening as he prepares to take on three ultra marathons in three days this weekend.
Rory will be joined by a team of local runners for the challenge, which which starts at 10am tomorrow morning at the Killyhevlin Hotel, and will involve running around Upper and Lower Lough Erne – all in aid of Enniskillen-based Adult ADHD NI.
“Over the years I have watched my son struggle with everyday life because of his ADHD and I have seen first-hand the stigma and lack of understanding about ADHD,” said Rory. “The lack of understanding has been very stressful for both my son and our family.
“After attending an Adult ADHD support group in Enniskillen our family was finally given hope. I was inspired by the members of the group who were all affected by ADHD in some way and I could see the hard work being done to offer support and raise awareness of the condition.”
Starting tomorrow morning, Friday June 23, Rory and the team will be running around the lough all weekend, finishing on Sunday.
“This is a massive challenge and has never been done before and I am doing it so that people like my son and our family will always have somewhere to go when they need it.”
