Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew has been returned as MP for Fermanagh South Tyrone after a long night of counting in Omagh.
Outgoing Unionist MP Tom Elliott was ousted from his Westminster seat by 875 votes. Mr Elliott polled 24,355 but it wasn’t enough to beat off Gildernew’s majority of 25,230.
Speaking after her election, Ms Gildernew said she was humbled to have been returned as MP, having lost her seat to Mr Elliott in 2015.
SDLP candidate Mary Garrity polled 2,587 votes, followed by the Alliance’s Noreen Campbell on 886 with Green Party candidate Tanya Jones finishing last on 423.
