Fermanagh GAA manager Pete McGrath has come under fire for endorsing a Sinn Fein candidate in next month’s general election.
The Brewster boss appeared in a 40 second online video to say he would endorse South Down candidate Chris Hazzard as his preference for the parliamentary seat. He introduced himself in his roles as former Down senior All Ireland winning manager and current Fermanagh senior team manager to say he would be giving the ex Infrastructure Minister and present MLA for South Down his vote for the Westminister poll on June 8th.
Mr McGrath said he was supporting Mr Hazzard because of “his identity with the community, with our culture particularly with Gaelic games and with the party he represents which is trying so hard for equality, integrity, space for everyone in our society”.
