Sinn Fein were the winners in today’s Assembly Election count as all three Fermanagh South Tyrone candidates claimed a seat.
Michelle Gildernew and Sean Lynch were returned, alongside newcomer Jemma Dolan.
DUP Leader, Arlene Foster topped the polls and was elected early on in Stage two with 8,745 votes, while Sinn Fein’s Gildernew and Dolan were deemed elected at stage three of the count, with a total of 9,385 and 8,928 votes respectively.
Following a nervous wait, Sinn Fein’s Sean Lynch, and UUP’s Rosemary Barton were elected at stage four, despite not reaching the quota. DUP’s Maurice Morrow fell short, only receiving 7,411 votes.
Five FST candidates suffered defeat at stage one as Conservative’s Richard Dunn, Allance Party’s Noreen Campbell, TUV’s Alex Elliott, Green Party’s Tanya Jones and Cross community Labour Alternative, Donal O’Cofaigh were eliminated.
Following a recount at stage two, SDLP’s Richie McPhillips lost out by 47 votes behind Sinn Fein’s Sean Lynch this afternoon.
Four of Fermanagh’s candidates were elected, while Michelle Gildernew is the only South Tyrone candidate to win a seat.
