Fermanagh man and Rose of Tralee Escort of the year 2016, John Slowey is showing off a hidden talent in the studio as he records a charity single.
Accompanied by other Roses and Escorts, (and maybe a few famous faces), the Enniskillen man is performing a cover version of a well known song in aid of Our Lady’s Children Hospital, Crumlin in Dublin.
The group began recording the single at the weekend, but the cause has a special meaning for John, as his family was rocked by a shock diagnoses.
“It was a long couple of days sitting in the studio but it was a lot of fun and totally worth it.
“The reason I picked the hospital was because off my little cousin James McGowan who over the past year has undergone chemotherapy for bone cancer and only a number of weeks back received the all clear which was wonderful news.
“It is actually incredible the talent that we have among the group. A group of about 40 of the Roses and Escorts arrived to take part in the
recording.
It does sound pretty good at the minute, even though it is not edited or finished yet. With the single I would love if we could get some local backing from Fermanagh. We are going to have a national launch and county launches so anyone keen to help out a little it would be fantastic,” added John.
The single still has work to be done but is due to be launched in April 2017, with more details to be confirmed in the near future.
